An iron-base metal-core PCB built for cost-sensitive thermal applications where aluminum or copper is over-specified. The iron substrate provides better heat dissipation than standard FR4 while keeping the bill of materials low, which is the key advantage in high-volume LED lighting and home appliance modules. Iron's higher mechanical stiffness and dimensional stability also make the board tolerant to handling and assembly stress in fast-moving production lines. The metal core sits directly under the active components, so heat from LEDs and small driver ICs passes through a thin dielectric layer into the chassis without an external heatsink in many designs. Typical use in commodity LED bulbs and panels, downlights, appliance status indicators, low-cost lighting drivers, ceiling fan controllers, automotive cabin lights, and other large-volume products where thermal margin and unit cost have to be balanced.
