Electro Gold Plating Circuit Board

A PCB finished with electroplated hard gold over nickel, used where contact pads and gold fingers see thousands of mating cycles or carry low-level signals that cannot tolerate oxidation. Electroplated gold builds a uniformly thick, dense gold layer on top of a nickel barrier, giving low contact resistance, high wear resistance, and long shelf life compared with immersion finishes. The plating thickness can be tuned for the duty cycle of the connector or test point. Common uses are gold-finger edge connectors on memory and option cards, key-press contact arrays, hot-swap backplane connectors, mil-aero couplers, and instrumentation probe interfaces. The finish also accepts wire bonding when bondable hard gold is specified.
