Semi-Bendable Flexible PCB

A 6-layer semi-bendable flexible PCB designed for assemblies that require a single permanent bend during installation, eliminating the need for a full polyimide rigid-flex stack-up. The semi-flex zone is formed by controlled-depth milling of an FR-4 based stack, allowing the board to be folded once into chassis, enclosures, or 3D mechanical fixtures and then locked into shape. The 6-layer count provides enough multilayer routing density for MCU, mixed analog and digital subsystems, and low-power radio in a compact form factor at significantly lower cost than full rigid-flex. Typical applications include consumer remote controls, smart-home keypads, in-vehicle interior switch panels, industrial handheld units, and white-goods control boards. Manufacturing involves a standard rigid PCB process plus a controlled-depth bend zone milling step after lamination.
